MARK POŽLEP: EVERYTHING UNDER – Leviathan film

20:00 Met Eve­ry­thing Under (2024 – 2025) onder­zoekt Mark Požlep de Gent­se water­we­gen met een zelf­ge­bouw­de boot. Tij­dens zijn toch­ten gaat hij in dia­loog met inwo­ners, loka­le experts en pas­san­ten en nodigt hen mee uit om hun blik op deze lij­nen in het land­schap te delen.

In aan­loop van de pre­sen­ta­tie van Eve­ry­thing Under cureert Mark Požlep een drie­de­li­ge docu­men­tai­re­reeks die afwis­se­lend in Kunst­hal Gent, de Koer en bij VIER­NUL­VIER door­gaat. De tweede film is ‘Leviathan’.

“When curating the second film, I chose Leviathan by directors Lucien Castaing-Taylor and Véréna Paravel from Harvard’s Sensory Ethnography Lab due to its completely fresh and different approach to documenting ethnographic research. The film presents the raw reality of everyday life in commercial fishing off the coast of New Bedford, Massachusetts, through the lens of multiple GoPro cameras. The use of GoPro, a unique approach to framing, editing, and the choice of the horror film genre paired with the poetic title Leviathan, places ethnographic documentation into an entirely new dimension. “ – Mark Požlep

Everything Under van Mark Požlep vindt plaats tijdens OPENBARE WERKEN, een tweejaarlijks festival dat in 2025 voor het eerst gezamenlijk gecureerd en georganiseerd wordt door de partners van Tot in de Stad! (Manoeuvre, PILOOT, Kunsthal Gent, CAMPUSatelier, het Stadsatelier van VIERNULVIER, de Koer, Jong Gewei, KASK & Conservatorium School of Arts en LUCA School of Arts).
