20:30 Ciné Rio opent het najaar met bezoek uit Tanzania! Movie DJ Rajab ‘Black’ Mangula vliegt over uit Dar-es-Salaam voor een unieke cultfilm ervaring. Op deze feestelijke avond gaat DJ Black aan de slag met live narration (een live vertelling) bij de duistere bochten en special effects van Shumileta. Hij voorziet dit duivelsverhaal van Tanzaniaans b-film pionier Mussa Banzi van een commentaartrack zoals je die op geen enkele DVD kan terugvinden!
Jesse Mpango van ajabu ajabu, een audiovisueel makerscollectief in Dar-es-Salaam, leidt de performance in met de korte docu Apostles of Cinema. Deze meeslepende reis langs informele videotheken, studio’s en cinema’s ontvouwt zich als een pleidooi voor radicaal toegankelijke cinema.
DJ Black houdt van de Muscles from Brussels, wij van deze sterke stemmen uit Dar-es-Salaam.

20:30 Ciné Rio opens their fall season with visitors from Tanzania! Movie DJ Rajab “Black” Mangula flies in from Dar-es-Salaam for a unique cult film experience. On this festive night, DJ Black will be providing live narration for the dark twists and special effects of Shumileta, a devilish tale by Tanzanian B-movie pioneer Mussa Banzi. A commentary track you won’t find on any DVD!
Jesse Mpango from ajabu ajabu, an audiovisual collective in Dar-es-Salaam, will introduce the performance with the short documentary Apostles of Cinema. This compelling journey through informal video libraries, studios and cinemas unfolds as a plea for radically accessible cinema.
